BrainNet Europe is a "Network of Excellence" funded by the European Commission in the 6th Framework Program "Life Science" (LSHM-CT-2004-503039). It consists of 19 established brain banks across Europe and is coordinated by the Centre for Neuropathology and Prion Research Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany.
Associated Partners can join the BNEII Consortium, if they are approved by at least three quarters of the votes of the Network Governing Board. They do not receive funding and have no right to vote. They may attend meetings of the Network Governing Board at their own expense and they are invited to contribute to interlaboratory trials or other activities of BNEII. They have signed the BNE consortium agreement, the BNE Code of Conduct and abide by these provisions.
