Patients and Donors

Medical research has accomplished much in the last decades. Illnesses which used to mean a suffering existence not seldomly ending in death, can be treated successfully today.

Nevertheless research into illnesses of the central nervous system has become a real challenge to science. The central nervous system consists of the brain and the spinal fluid. These control our entire body via nerve strands. The illnesses of the central nervous system are multiple and varied. Besides the well known diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson's disease there are also other more seldom illnesses such as Amyotrophic Lateral sclerosis. All of the diseases have one thing in common though: scientists are only standing at the beginning of researching their causes hence making a secure diagnosis as well as the development of treatments very difficult.

The examination and analysis of brain tissue plays a decisive role in the research for treatment of these illnesses. More research implies that faster, better and more precise processes for diagnoses can be developed, illness patterns can be recognized and effective medications can be produced.
Anyone can suddenly be affected by a serious illness. And all too often, the latest state of the research is the only hope! That's why everyone benefits from medical research.
